hey guys im back with weaning advice and am in the midst of writing an early days on. on my previous post i was talking of teething. watch out for pooey bums, and a sore one, dribbly and a snotty nose. so if u are having an early morning call at around 4 mths. froma usually good baby. u could try a small amnt of baby rice at around 11 o clock. if also still hungry after a milk feed. these are all signs that he is ready for a move on to something more tasty. when preparing baby rice use breast or formula to mix up. start with 3-4 t- spoons also. another sign is if waking in night for extra feeds more tahn usual. if u are not having these issues until 6mths then wait till then odviously. but years ago babies were weaned at 4 mths though. when they reach 5-6 mths introduce butternut squash, carrot, apple, pear, sweet potatoe, peas, parsnip, tomatoes, courgette, marrow. steam, blitz in a processor or with hand held whisk. wait to cool and freeze in icecube trays. breakfast should b baby rice in place of 10-11 o clock feed and puree veg at 1-2 feed. this will all very soon knock out the milk feeds also around 7-9 mths, always give a milk feed before the brekkie and lunch until he starts to refuse it or quoting gina ford. playing up at 5o clock feed. . at six mths u can introduce dairy foods, protein like fish, chuck and mince. use them in a pared down version of your own foods no salt, sugar or seasioning. use celery and leeks to add a small palate taste. to add bulk to stuff rice and pasta and quinoa are v good. when travelling a quote from an old friend keep a plum or ellas kitc pouch in your nappy bag. if u struggle at food times here are some tips. starting at an early age i found really worked. but if giving the fussy winge DONT EVER FORCE. U WILL HAVE MENTAL AND EATING ISSUES LATER IN LIFE. if having the fussy time either a new taste or cant copycat u or teething again just leave alone and keep some farleys rusks close by or rich cakes and a bit of formula or expressed close by aswell. at 9 mths they will become fussier at what they want so make food chunkier a bit to get the taste buds work and texture experiments going. rusks in milk and yog on toast are good alternatives for brakkie too as is paw ridge porridge. not as lumpy. dont forget at six months u can give fromage frais too and is a good one for the fussy period along with rusks in milk. report back soon mummy madeline
